The Iron Chef Icon Collection January 2001 |
Introduction: Who takes it? Who's cuisine reigns supreme?! Friday nights have evolved into a TV tradition here at The Iconfactory. Right around 10pm, many of us huddle close to our boob tubes in excited anticipation of what is to be shown on the Food Network. What is this that has glued us to our seats and has our taste buds screaming for more? Why, its the latest craze from Japan of course - Iron Chef! Every week we watch a hopeful challenger take on the likes of master chefs Masaharu Morimoto (Iron Chef Japanese) or Masahiko Kobe (Iron Chef Italian) to the delight of us at home and the colorful panel of commentators and critics that make Iron Chef a cult hit. For those of you out there that watch the show, all of this makes perfect sense and is just about the greatest thing since sliced bread. To those that have not seen the show, I cannot explain its appeal directly. Perhaps its the pageantry, or the exotic theme ingredients, or the music stolen from "Backdraft". Whatever it is, it has us hooked and we knew, almost from the first episode, that we had to make icons based on the show. The result is the enclosed folder of over 30 icons of the people, food and things from Iron Chef. Since there have been so many shows to date, we couldn't possibly represent every single theme ingredient. We chose some of our favorites instead, along with the main players, and miscellaneous objects from Kitchen Stadium. The result is a fun set of icons that fans of the show should really love. Enjoy!
